Brent HAZ was established in 1999 as part of the government’s strategy to tackle health inequalities through innovative projects and initiatives. Brent HAZ has been leading the way in multi-agency work to tackle health inequalities, with emphasis on building healthy and sustainable communities.
Since inception, the aims of Brent HAZ have been to: · Reduce local health inequalities · Reduce factors leading to social exclusion · Improve the overall health and quality of life of living in Brent
Brent HAZ is committed to addressing health inequalities and reaching those members of the population who may not be accessing current services.
In the final two years of the HAZ programme, the HAZ committee have decided to focus on three areas of enormous concern in our borough: Tuberculosis, Cancer and Diabetes.
The stark figures of the levels of these major conditions are well documented, those who are most at risk are the very communities and individuals that the HAZ was created to support.
